midi to wav conversion for win 7

I would like to convert midi files to wav files, my operating systyem is windows 7.  The only information I have found on the NoteWorthy web site dates back quite a few years.  I would appreciate current information, web sites and software.  Thanks

I'm using WavePad v4.28.

System Requirements

• Works on Windows XP 2000/2003/Vista/2008 and Windows 7
• For earlier Windows versions (98, ME) please click here
• Mac OS X 10.2 or later;
• Pocket PC 2003, Smartphone 2003 (Windows CE 4), Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC / Smartphone, Windows Mobile 6
• To run under Linux use WINE.

It can load midi files or convert midi into wav.
But, it takes a long time to load midi files.

A fairly standard way of doing this is using Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) and simply playing the Midi file using something like Windows Media Player and recording the result using Audacity.  It works with most sound cards.  Midi and Wav are inherently different formats - one describes how the sound is played (midi) and the other is essentially a recording of a sound.  It's therefore not a "conversion" but much closer to playing and recording the midi.
